You are admitting a 19-year-old female college student to the hospital for fevers. Answer the following:

Describe what would be important to remember while you interview this patient.
Explain how you would communicate with this patient reflecting a culturally responsive approach.
Discuss the health care support systems available in your community for someone of this group. If no support systems are available in your community, identify a national resource.
Initial discussion question posts should be a minimum of 200 words and cite at least two references using APA style.

ANSWER

I am not extensively familiar with Islamic culture and the Muslim faith. When admitting a 19-year-old female patient, I will consider her privacy and modesty. This is because Muslim women prefer female providers during interviews and medical examinations, and they may avoid shaking hands or making eye contact with male staff (Zagloul et al., 2024). Therefore, I will ensure she feels comfortable by explaining each step clearly and limiting how much of her body is exposed during the exam. Respecting her modesty creates trust and shows that her beliefs are valued in the care setting.
