Previously you examined theories from other disciplines that are used in nursing. Some of these theories, such as Lewin’s change theory, are used without modification in nursing to support practice changes. Other theories are used as a foundation for the development of nursing theories, such as Peplau’s theory of interpersonal relations founded on the work of Harry Stack Sullivan. Many non-nursing theories are used in the development of middle-range theories in nursing. Middle range theories can be derived from theories in similar disciplines, such as psychology, medicine, and leadership.
In this Discussion Board,
- Identify and describe a specific middle-range theory, explaining why it is considered middle-range.
- Address how this theory can be used to guide master’s prepared nursing practice and research.
- Provide an example of socially responsible leadership via considerations from a related discipline’s theory.
Provide evidence based sources to support your stance.
