Bar code medication administration (BCMA) is one of the beneficial applications of technology in healthcare.  This smart technology works by using a barcode scanner in ensuring that errors in medication administration, such providing the medication to the wrong patient or providing the wrong medication to the patient, is prevented.  BCMA involves scanning the identification band of the patient and the medication that will be given.
