ANSWER:

An increased number of teenagers across the world are accessing social networking platforms than five years ago. They (teenagers) are spending more time on the networks; they are logging in to the platform between fifty to a hundred times a day and end up spending an average of two hours on the platforms every day. [Thesis statement] Situational and social factors motivate their increased access and an extended stay on the platforms.

Peer pressure is one of the leading motivators for adolescents joining social media and spending a significant amount of their time on the platforms. They interact with their age mates in schools and social places where they advance the perception that posting on social media and attracting overwhelming reactions is heroism. The teenagers end up in a competition-like world where they want to outdo each other on the followers they attract and the audiences for their posts (Reid and Weigle 73). The adolescents who have reservations for social media are viewed as retrogressive and left out in social activities. In the long run, they join social media to fit into their social class and attract friends. Besides, famous people in society (television and radio broadcasters, actors, and musicians, among others) are constantly communicating through social media.
