ANSWER
The visual deficit I have chosen is blindsight which is the condition in which the latter is absent or diminished as a result of damage to the primary visual cortex. Blindsight suggests that the primary visual cortex (V1) plays a vital role in visual awareness as extrastriate activation needs to be fed to V1 in order for the content of activation to be consciously perceived. The shifts of attention within the visual field can be overt or covert whereby the latter are not accompanied by orientating movements. According to studies, it has long been perceived that attention and awareness are always linked in that whenever we do not attend to stimuli we became unaware of them (Ajina & Bridge, 2016).
