One of the main jobs of historians is to interpret the past by reviewing primary documents, scholarly secondary sources, and then creating an analysis of this research. After reading your text and reviewing the assigned materials, submit an analysis of southern reaction to Abraham Lincoln’s election.
You might want to consider the following questions, but you are not limited to them:  What was Lincoln’s intent for slavery in the South? What did southerners believe Lincoln intended to do to slavery? Did his words support southern opinions or were they different? Please explain your answer. To begin with, Lincoln was not an abolitionist. He believed that slavery was morally wrong, but the problem is the highest law sanctioned that slavery in the constitution. In his speech in Illinois, Lincoln presented his legal, moral and economic opposition against slavery but said he was not aware of what should be done about it.
