The colonies had a lot of similarities and differences. Take, for instance, the Chesapeake and New England colonies. Chesapeake colonies were established by English immigrants who had moved to Virginia and Maryland in search of gold (Corbett et al, 2018). These colonies were founded by persons who were driven by commercial orientation. Once they realized that there was no gold, the quickly moved to grow tobacco in Maryland.
