Having read the required materials for this Module: Week, consider an area of Christian theology that intersects with behavior (eschatology, discipleship, sanctification etc.) How does the New Testament connect the resurrection to this area of theology? In what way does the resurrection change how we might think about this issue? How does this impact your life now?
ANSWER
The New Testament first connects resurrection to true discipleship through Jesus’ disciples believing he rose from death. Before Jesus’ death, the disciples were skeptical as most could not publicly declare and proclaim his teachings. However, when he died and rose from the dead, the disciples transformed to the point that they were ready to endure persecution and martyrdom while preaching Jesus’ gospel. Their strength indicates they claimed Jesus rose from the dead and believed in the resurrection. In this regard, the New Testament indicates what it costs to become a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ. For instance, Paul was beheaded as he proclaimed the love of Jesus Christ.
