Choose an immunological disorder, or an autoimmune disease, to discuss this week. Chapter 17 of your
textbook may be helpful in choosing a topic, but you may also do research online. Describe your chosen
immunological disorder, or autoimmune disease, including its symptoms and mortality rate (if any.) Be
sure to include detailed and specific information about the part of the immune system that is involved in
causing the disorder/autoimmune disease. Give details on the immune system cells and chemicals
involved in leading to or causing symptoms. Try not to choose the same immunological
disorder/autoimmune disease that another student has already chosen.
Answer
For this discussion, I selected XXXX, which is an autoimmune disorder. The condition causes skeletal muscle weakness. XXXX is characterized by muscle weakness that worsens when a person engages in activities and improves when the person has rest (Shoenfeld, Cervera, & Gershwin, 2010). The degree of muscle weakness will vary among individuals and it largely affects muscles that control facial expression, eyelid and eye movement, talking, chewing, and swallowing (Shoenfeld, Cervera, & Gershwin, 2010). Major symptoms for xxxx are ptosis (drooping of one or both eyelids), weakness in the eye muscles, shortness of breath, difficulties in swallowing, double or blurred vision…… To access full answer, click on the purchase button below.
