Next, go online and look up your state’s constitution. Find three state sections that are similar to or align with the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution). Examples include religious freedom, freedom of speech or association, etc. Compare and contrast these three state sections from your state’s constitution with their comparable sections in the Bill of Rights found in the U.S. Constitution and discuss the guidelines for each.

The United States and states constitutions enumerate various rights and freedoms that citizens are entitled to. Freedoms involves the guarantee that a country cannot restrict its citizens from performing particular activities, while rights entail entitlement to something (Greenberg & Page, 2018). Rights are either human or fundamental. Human rights are absolute to life while fundamental rights are basic for a normal life (Greenberg & Page, 2018). The Bill of Rights in the US constitution, as guaranteed through the various amendments, provides constitutional protection for various personal liberties, rights, and freedoms. State governments, through their constitutions also regulate freedoms that their citizens are entitled to.
