The process of needs assessment involves personal analysis, organizational analysis, and task analysis. The organizational analysis determines the context in which the training occurs and examines the appropriateness of training that aligns with organization strategy. It also assesses the resources available for training, and support by peers and managers. Personal analysis entails identifying the people to be trained, the employee’s readiness for training, and determining if the performance deficiencies are attributed to lack of skill, knowledge, or work design problem (Noe, 2017, p. 118). The task analysis involves identifying tasks, knowledge, behaviors, or skills that should be emphasized to employees in completing their tasks.
