Technology in healthcare is increasing efficiency and the effectiveness of care. In my workplace, I find portable monitors to be one of the most beneficial technologies. Nurses are always busy and on the move. They might not have adequate time to concentrate on one patient over an extended period. Portable monitors detect vital signs like oxygen saturation and respiratory rates and transmit the information to a central monitor (Carroll, 2020). A nurse will receive an alarm if there is an emergency. Therefore, the technology is essential because it helps nurses track patients progress while still attending to other patients and performing other roles.
