Person-centered communication is a model of exchanging information, thoughts, and ideas where an individual is treated as a person, and their needs, feelings, and preferences are respected (Williams et al., 2017). Person-centered communication allows for the free expression of experiences, thoughts, and ideas as it upholds an individual’s emotional and information needs. Person-centered communication eliminates communication barriers such as cultural differences, language, lack of transparency, disinterest, dissatisfaction, among others. It targets a person and their unique needs.
